About Us

Alabamians Against Distracted Driving (AADD) is a non-profit, grassroots educational organization [(501)(c)(3) status pending ] operating out of Birmingham, Alabama. We are loosely affiliated with the UAB University Transportation Center a research, education and public service center funded throughout the USDOT’s Research Innovation Technology Administration.

There are no dues or membership fees.We need and will accept contributions if you are inclined to support this effort, but it will cost you nothing to become part of AADD.

We were established in response to US Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s appeal to public-minded citizens  to become involved in the “anti distracted driving” movement.

Our objective is to educate drivers, young and old alike, about the dangers of texting while driving AND the danger of speaking on a cell phone while driving, even if you are using a hands free device.

We need you to become part of Alabamians Against Distracted Driving so members of the Alabama Legislature will pass a sensible, PRIMARY law against texting while driving (Contact your legislator).

Dee Fine, founder of MADD in Alabama and former national vice-president of MADD is the founder of Alabamians Against Distracted Driving.
